Tablets are becoming more and more popular, and the iPad is at the top of the list. Many people, however, aren’t familiar with how to use this piece of technology. Even those that have experience with Apple products often are unaware of a few tricks that could make their experience more enjoyable. If at all possible, use Wi-Fi to connect your iPad to the Internet instead of 3G. Using 3G continuously, you can expect to get around 9 hours of battery life. With Wi-Fi, you can enjoy your iPad for even longer before it needs a charge. If you don’t need to connect to the Internet, disable both.

One of the great things about the iPad is that it allows you to quickly check your email. If you receive a large volume of emails throughout the day, it may actually be draining your battery. The device is configured to check for new messages frequently and automatically. Instead of setting it to notify you of new messages every few minutes, go into the Mail, Contacts and Calendars settings to adjust the frequency of mail checks.

Keep an eye on the amount of downloadable space available on your iPad. After a few years of using an iPad many people find that they go to download something they want only to find that they do not have space available. Remove unwanted apps and music from time to time so this does not happen to you.

Do you have an Apple TV? You should be able to stream some of the content stored on your iPad to this TV. Open the content on your iPad while you are next to your Apple TV and wait for the Airplay icon to appear. If you tap it, your content will be sent to your TV.

On your email, you will notice that the default only allows for two visible lines. If you would rather see more before you open it, there is an option. To change this, head to iPad Settings and press on Mail. After you go to “mail”, choose “contacts” and “calendar” in order to see additional lines of text before opening your messages.

If you want to put your calendar on the iPad calendar you should click on the mail and then your contacts and then your calendar. Choose Add An Account, then Other. Select the icon ‘Add CalDAV Account, and enter your Google information. Then you have to go from the settings app to the calendar app. Your information should now be there!

Do you have multiple users on the same iPad? You may not want them to view your online history. You can delete the browser history quickly. Open the Settings app and tap on Safari. Once Safari is open, then tap on the Clear History button. This will clear the cache and all cookies.
